5 ways to improve email
Here are a handful of ideas that I found improved email management.
1. if you have lots of addresses – add routes to two or three address primary addresses that collect stuff and use forwarders to send copies of important ones to your gmail account as immediate notification. That way you can collect all your email for lots of online functional identities.
2. Start your subject line with a verb. e.g.
useless subject lines:
For you attention
Mother, I wanted to say
Re: your message
useful subject lines
Give to the poor
Sell more services
Be a better parent
3. use a signature on your business emails. Maybe not on your personal ones. And always do a test email with a new account so you know it is working and can see if your signature is one you are proud to send to colleagues.
4. use a gmail account. Much more useful and time saving than hotmail or yahoo, in my opinion. And you can ask it to clear mail from your other POP boxes. By directing mail you can archive what you do not need to see, and be instantly aware of new important mail.
5. Use the best spam filters you can. There is no joy in dealing with it, and with the email routing about and strategically placed spam filters you can still find email but spend more time doing something productive. At SFSW we use Spam Assassin and Box Trapper on any of our accounts (no extra charge).
